Optimized temperature control is a modern and more efficient way to maintain a consistent temperature within your property. It is the recommended method for managing your heating system. There are two common ways a heating system can operate: Hysteresis and Optimized Temperature Control.
Hysteresis
Hysteresis is typically set to ±0.25°C. For example, if the thermostat is set to 20°C, the heating will continue running until the temperature reaches 20.25°C. The heating will then switch off and remain off until the temperature drops to 19.75°C.
This method can result in wider temperature fluctuations. Even after the heating switches off, the radiators will continue releasing heat, which may cause the room temperature to rise above the target. Likewise, when the heating switches back on, there can be a delay before warm water reaches all radiators, causing the temperature to dip below the lower threshold before the room begins warming again.
Optimized Temperature Control
When Optimized Temperature Control is enabled, the thermostat learns how quickly your property heats up and cools down. Instead of relying solely on fixed temperature thresholds, it intelligently cycles the heating on and off at calculated intervals to maintain a more stable room temperature.
For example, the thermostat may switch the heating off at 19.75°C, knowing that the residual heat in the radiators will continue warming the room to the target temperature of 20°C. Over time, the system learns how long the room remains at the desired temperature before cooling, and will reactivate the heating at the appropriate time to maintain comfort more efficiently and consistently.
